Cannot find a service manual download for a rascal 300 mobility scooter. Not the 1 that has a light. The older 1 with the tilt shaft like the old black and decker flashlights that took the long cylindrical rechargable batteries. The actual problem is.
Bought new batteries and they are fully charged. But no power. When i turn the key the fully charged guage under the key does not move it stays on low deadand the horn does not even work even with the key in the on position. I am totally handicapped and need this device to get around.

Can you please help. 1271 Answers SOURCE: the batteries could be the problem, is it possible to try some other batteries, silly question, how steep is this hill? Remember scooters cannot climb steep hills as the motor will shut down due to the increased load. 1 Year old batteries ok?
But if they get used on a non daily basis and are not fully charged after use, I would question the batteries but again the motor could be overloading, How much do you weight? Sorry for the personal question but it all loads the motor and that increases the current and that will cause the motor controller to shut it down. Posted on Jun 14, 2009.
61 Answers SOURCE: On some scooters it is possible to change the polarity of the motor. If its a two brush motor (most are) you can just swap the red and black wires around in the connector plug for the motor. Make sure you get the right wires if you do this but I have to point out that there is obviously a problem with the scooter and I would strongly advise you to get it looked at by your local dealer as the problem is potentially serious and may cause other problems aswell. I cant really understand why it would only go backwards. May be a throttle pot problem or main controller fault. Either way, as I said, best get it looked at as even if you do swap the wires, it is most likely that the scooter will only travel forward at the usual speed for reverse, normally 2mph!

Looks like you have the same scooter as mine, it should be a little white button on the back of the base. If you follow this link, it will give you a pdf version of the older model pride victory manual, (Mine is a three, they are up to about 10!) See fig. 8 on page 20 and 'Circuit Breaker' on page 21. The Rascal 600/300, remove the seat, lift off the cover, unplug a battery, replace the old battery with a new one, putting the cable connections on the same way, red is +, black is. Do the same with the next battery, reconnect the anderson plugs,reinstall the cover and seat and plug in the charger with the key on watch to see the needle raises up toward the full mark, allow to charge fully, overnight is good. Keep the bats charged up not allowing them to drop below half way for the first 20 charges to break in the batteries. As a rule charge the scooter after every use!
