You may not believe this, but even the professional rebuilder or mechanic might not know everything about working on the 46RE (aka A518) / 47RE / 48RE (aka A618) transmission series. It does also include the Dodge Ram pick-ups from 1995-02 with the engines: 5.2L, 5.9L V8s using the 46RE, as well as the 5.9L Diesel using the 47RE.
This manual covers the 46RE, 47RE & 48RE. It is written in a manner more specific to the automatic transmissions than the particular vehicle models. I would like the re48 manual for the 2004 1 ton dodge with the Diesel But with so many transmissions in one book, I think it mat be a bit confusing, as the reader may need to go back and force, as the 48re is different than most of the others. We have not heard of any complaints regarding the manual carrying more than 1 transmission due to their similarities.
